holy heat wave batman!!

August 15, 2008

today I went with liz to the skok river to do a little swimming cause of the wonderfull weather we all were blessed with today. some experiences along the way:

  • the water was like Ice!!!–of course it is a river, but still.
  • our sad attempt at floating down the river was pretty pathetic. With our basically dollar flotation device.
  • Liz forgetting that she was prego and about to leap belly first onto the raft thing to float down river.
  • me getting chased by a horse fly and taking our beach towel to cover up as an escape method and then resorting to sitting down with the whole towel over me like a tent because I just couldn’t take it.
  • and just walking across those slipper rocks was a historical moment in itself.

All in all it was a great way to start my day THANKS LIZ for waking me up to go.

What I have planned for tonight is some speed cleaning cause our relatives are coming to stay tomorrow. And then off to the burnfields to play some volleyball and possibly some croquet : )

today is looking good.

So I have been wanting to tryout rock climbing for a long time and have never did anything about it. I don’t think that I want to be all hard core like the picture above. But I would like to take some classes to see if I would like to try to get good at it. However, I think that if I took a group class there would be a bunch of little kids and I would feel like a retard lol! But I think it would be fun to get a group of friends and take a personal class. Or something of the sort just so I can have someone to share in the embarrassment of trying a new sport : )

Backpacking

August 8, 2008

Angela Scott and I are planning to try out backpacking. so we saved some money and got a few basic essential as a preparation–yes I know that we are spending a lot of money on something we haven’t fully tried out yet….*cough*….similar to my parents impulse buys……*cough* : )

but we figure we love hiking and camping and put it together and you get backpacking woohoo!! And the idea of up and leaving whenever we please with only the bare essentials is too tempting to pass up.

also sense at the moment I have no plans for my future and I have nothing in-particular to save up for why the heck not. outdoors here I come!

So far I have:

It was a ton of fun try out all the stuff in the store! They put my weight in our packs and we walked around trying the different packs out. oooooh and the pack we picked has a whistle in one of the buckles (suppose to keep the bears away lol–RIIIGGHHTT!) and they took of the hip belt and put it in the oven and then we had to wear it for a few minutes so that our hip belts would mold to our hips HOW AWESOME!!

still need……..

  •  shoes
  • water purifier
  • socks!! gotta love ‘em

………not sure what else yet thats basically all we need minus food stuff and maybe better suited clothes, and I got pans and a stove thing from my dad who used to go backpacking too.
